When a student scours resources for exactly the right university for their needs, there are a great deal of things they have to keep in mind, from finding a school with the program they want, to deciding the atmosphere they want to spend the next four plus years studying in. They need to do it carefully, as well — studies show that a quarter or more of current students surveyed wish they had done more research before choosing a university. On the internet for example a wide variety of tests like  logical reasoning, aptitude tests or psychometric tests can be practiced online, which enhances the chances of  succeeding when choosing the right study.

The two biggest considerations prospective students want to weigh about a school and its surrounds is the cost — both of the uni itself and of living in the city — and how much there is to do when they have a break from studying. A survey by Which? revealed that the University of Glasgow was voted as one of the highest by students in “sport, creative arts, politics, student union activities, and nightlife,” as well as the all-around experience of the education they were receiving.

According to The Guardian, the cost of off campus living at the University of Glasgow is fairly inexpensive — it falls on the low center of a list of universities across Europe, Better yet in this age of crippling student loan debt, The Push Student Debt Survey indicates that Glasgow students leave university with some of the lowest overall debt in the UK.

It’s not just the students that profit (literally) from reasonable prices for housing, however. The Guardian quotes research done by Zoopla.co.uk, a real estate website, that demonstrates Glasgow is an ideal town for student rental property investment. Statistics show up to an annual 5% pre-tax return on landlords’ investment, a figure falling substantially above the UK average.

A win for students and investors alike puts Glasgow at the top of the heap when it comes to a Scottish university city. Add to that the top-rated night life, the rich arts scene, the wide range and skill levels of available sports, student activities, and excellent academic programs, plus a widely varying number of national and international events taking place throughout the year, and Glasgow clearly should occupy the top of any UK student’s list of possible schools.
